ข้อมูลงาน

The Ban Puang White Elephant Procession Tradition in Thung Hua Chang District, Lamphun Province, has a history rooted over 800 years ago. It began with the migration of Thai people from the Nan Kingdom, led by Queen Chamari, who settled in the Ban Puang area after her father, King Kambhira, died in battle. Her bodyguard, Foot Pan Mahad, died in Ban Puang while attempting to catch a white elephant, leading to the establishment of Wat Phra That Aew. Queen Chamari later founded Li city. The tradition's main purpose is to ask for rain according to the season and is primarily conducted before rice farming. In 1968, Kruba Chao Apichai Khaopi restored Wat Phra That Aew and found gold and silver rings within the relic.
